REQUIREMENTS FOR A RELIGIOUS ACTIVITY
VISA
(MOTIVI RELIGIOSI)
Consular jurisdiction for legal residents
of Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota,
South Dakota, Wisconsin And Wyoming.
A person wishing to obtain a visa for
reason of religious activity in Italy must abide by the following instructions:
- One visa
application form, duly filled and signed by the applicant in front of
a Consular Officer at Chicago or in front of one of the peripheral offices
at Denver, Springfield-IL, Iowa, Milwaukee, Kansas city, St. Paul and St.
Louis;
- The passport or official travel document
must be valid at least three months after the visa expiration date (plus copy).
Please make sure the passport has a blank page to affix the visa;
- For non US citizens, proof of permanent
residence in the USA in the form of a green card or valid long term visa to
the United States (except B1/B2), I-20 with the endorsement on the back, IAP66,
advanced parole or any other pertinent document from the I.N.S. allowing reentry
into the U.S.. (plus copy);
- Proof of residence in the jurisdiction of this Consulate
General in the form of a notarized copy of the applicant's Drivers License
or State I.D.;
- One recent passport photograph - full
face and front view;
- Flight itinerary;
- Letter from the Generalate House/Pontifical academic
institutions stating:
- nature of religious activity and exact period of time
of the applicants stay in Italy
- financial responsibility
- health insurance coverage.
THE ORIGINAL LETTER MUST BE APPROVED
BY THE VATICAN AUTHORITIES WITH THE APPOSITION OF THEIR SEAL OR (NOTE VERBALE)
FROM THE APOSTOLIC NUNCIATURE IN WASHINGTON DC.
- Visa fee (NON REFUNDABLE) payable
in money order;
- Return envelope. Self-addressed, pre-stamped return UNITED
EXPRESS POSTAL SERVICE (EXPRESS MAIL), if the applicant will not collect
the passport with the visa, in person. No other courier
will be accepted.
IMPORTANT: WITHIN EIGHT DAYS FROM ENTRY
INTO ITALY THE FOREIGNER MUST NOTIFY THE COMPETENT QUESTURA (POLICE OFFICE)
OF HIS/HER ARRIVAL.
PROCESSING TIME IS BETWEEN 5 TO 25 DAYS
